Exploring insomnia in people with secondary breast cancer

Categories: Personal diagnosis | Secondary breast cancer

Complete a survey to help researchers understand the impact of secondary breast cancer on sleep, and how it affects people’s wellbeing.

What’s the title of the study?

Exploring insomnia in people living with secondary breast cancer.

What’s the study about?

People diagnosed with breast cancer often experience poor sleep, or insomnia. However, most of this research has been focused on people living beyond primary breast cancer. This mean’s that we know less about how secondary breast cancer affects people’s sleep.

Researchers at the University of Strathclyde are researching how much people living with secondary breast cancer experience poor sleep or insomnia, and how it impacts them. They hope that this study will inform future research in this area.

Who’s organising it?

Name of project lead: Stephanie McCrory

Job title: Research associate

Organisation: University of Strathclyde

Email address: stephanie.mccrory@strath.ac.uk

Who can take part?

You can take part if you’re living with secondary breast cancer and have ever experienced poor sleep after your diagnosis.

Why do you want me to be involved?

By taking part, you can help researchers better understand the impact of secondary breast cancer on people’s sleep, and how this affects their wellbeing.

This could be used in future research to improve the understanding of and support for secondary breast cancer.

What will you ask me to do?

You’ll be asked to complete an anonymous online survey. The survey will take 15 to 20 minutes to complete, and you’ll be asked about your experience of sleep and your wellbeing.

How do I get involved?

Please complete the online survey

The information sheet and consent form are at the beginning of the survey.

When’s the deadline?

30 September 2025
